Find Ways to Unfurl
Bloom Anyhow Doctors gave me a prognosis: 5–7 Years, A deadline. That phrase is now dead to me. I grab ahold to every line and live. Every day I find ways to unfurl.
This week, I am celebrating.
Seven years ago, over the Fourth of July weekend, I was diagnosed with Stage III Multiple Myeloma. The prognosis came with a life expectancy of five to seven years.
There was a strong possibility that I would not be here. Yet here I am.
Proof of Life. These two photographs were taken seven years apart. The first was made shortly after my cancer diagnosis. The second was made this week.
Not only am I here—I am flowering.
